So yeah, summer stock at Tech rocks so far! I told some of you, but I ended up getting a second position as a scene shop assistant at the last minute, which more than doubled my pay. Yay!
So yeah, all is well in the house of Laura (which is really the apartment of Cathy, but yeah.).
Have a good night.

Monday, May 27, 2002

Hey guys, I'm off to Tech again. As I said before, feel free to come visit. Anyways, I won't have AIM for the most part while I'm gone, so the best way to get in touch with me will be email/cell, and of course, this blog.

I should have sent everyone my information - if you don't have my new addy, email me and I'll tell you where I am. I'm not too far from campus. :-)

Have a good summer...make lots of money and all that good stuff.

You know, in the past few days, I've talked to a few people I knew in high school...
You know, the kind that never really went anywhere after graduation? I basically spent the time being insulted and somehow attacked with attempts to degrade me simply because I hadn't gotten stuck in a hole in the ground. Is it my fault I'm trying to be successful? That had absolutely nothing to do with your failures...ok? So stop trying to blame me for your miserable lives, or to act like I've gotten stuck up because I've moved on from the petty high school life. Maybe in a way I am better off, because I knew to think about my future, and not just what I had now.

Hey, at least a pelican didn't dive-bomb your foot, mistaking it for a fish.

Tuesday, May 21, 2002

Today was about the same as yesterday. I'm gonna be so lazy when I get back to Blacksburg next week...oh, yeah, like I've told Dana and David, if anyone needs to get out of Salem/L-burg, feel free to let me know and come on down and spend some time with me.
Nothing else going on, really...we ran into a snake coming off the beach tonight...mom flipped out again. Good times.

Monday, May 20, 2002

I believe I've been in the sun long enough to no longer qualify as 'blindingly white'. Yes, it's a good feeling.
Anyways, today was good...lotsa sleep, losta beach...I found a great place to look for shells today. There's a jetty up the beach a little ways where the shells just pile up...according to some local shop owners we met there this morning, they all come out each day to find shells for their stores. Apparently, this beach is the 3rd best shelling beach in the world. It's cool. I've got a table full of them already, and I've only really been here a day. If you want any, let me know.

Sunday, May 19, 2002

(Yeah just kidding. There is a local prodigy number down here.)
Today was ok...we got down here 2 hours late because of the rain, but it stopped finally. I've been out on the beach most of the evening - good shells, warm water...lotsa dead fish. One of these days I really will make something with all of these shells I keep. :-)
The big excitement of the day was on our way to dinner, my mom freaked when she saw an alligator on the road. Yeah, it was pretty funny.
Now to the guitar I go...

Friday, May 17, 2002

So yeah, Dana is teaching me how to play guitar. This should be interesting. I'm gonna try to take the guitar he lent me to the beach with me, so that I can annoy my parents on the 18 hour car ride down. :-D
So, yeah, I should burn some cd's to take with me now before I go to bed...Oh yeah, I'm really mad because I got this great job offer yesterday and I can't do it because I'll be gone...ugh. Also - Johnnie is so cool. I just wanted to reiterate that.

Wednesday, May 15, 2002

Ok, just so everyone knows, I won't have internet access while I'm at the beach. 18th-26th. Yeah. Also, some people are saying that they can't get in touch with me by my cell phone. I just wanted to say that voice mail is actually a really great way to get in touch with me. I check it often. So don't freak out when I don't have it turned on 24/7.
:-)

Tuesday, May 14, 2002

You know, I finally decided to see what the big deal was about POD, so I dl'ed some of their songs. "Youth of the Nation" is actually really cool...I would recommend it.
Anyways, I got a nice email today from a youth pastor in Deleware...he wanted to use one of the devos I wrote for TDDM in a youth camp he's running. It's pretty cool to have written something that people really like.
And I get to go kyacking Thursday! Yay! I finally got my parents' bathroom finished (it looks good; I'll have pictures online soon, since I just got my digital camera to work with this new computer), so all I have left to do is put away all my crap from college. And then off to the beach we go.
So yeah, good day, good day...

Monday, May 13, 2002

Somehow, though I don't believe it, I got an A in Shakespeare. What a glorious day!

Sunday, May 12, 2002

Prom was good...as good as prom can get, and we all know how that is. God, I'm glad to be out of the high school soap opera.
I spent most of the evening preping my parents' bathroom for painting tomorrow. Should be fun.
Fluffy, I miss you! Hurry up and get online. I wanna go kyacking.
:-)
Goodnight, all.

Friday, May 10, 2002

Well, the other day I found out that me and Heather are gonna be living in Main Egg this coming year. I can't believe we got downgraded.
Anyways, other than that, things are good. I'm getting ready for Prom tomorrow...in that I'm still trying to figure out which dress I look the least ugly in. Ick. That's the thing about being an amazon super-chick techie...buff doesn't look good dressed up. Gimme my blue jeans. Just kidding, Dana...seriously, I'm wearing a dress, I promise.
I also ended up with a great idea for another play...this time some old school fantasy. I'll write more about it once I get it more developed...just think chick flick / zorro / twelfth night / princess bride, and you'll get the idea. Maybe.
Oh, oh! And I figured out how to make that dress out of bottle tops today! So everyone save me yours, ok? Like, you know, the ones off of beer bottles (not can tabs, mind you) and IBC root beer...those type. The ones you have to get a bottle opener for. (Unless they're the neat twisty kind - but I use those, too.)
Obviously, I have figured out that some of you actually read this thing, because I've gotten offers for painting, websites, and my computer in the last 24 hours. Ah, the joys of the internet. Keep it coming.
And is anyone up for Indian food? I feel a Nawab run coming next week at latest.

Wednesday, May 08, 2002

I went out this afternoon and got some stuff for Prom...it's gonna be fun to see my friends again.
So anyways, I gotta get everything organized this week and next week...I'm supposed to be back in Blacksburg directly after our vacation, so I'm gonna do what I can to get more money for my laptop. With that in mind, if anyone is interested in buying a desktop computer, antique bottles, having their house specialty painted, or in need of a website, let me know this week. :-D

Monday, May 06, 2002

I miss my Fluffy!!! In fact, I miss everyone. *sigh*. This is what happens when you actually are happy someplace.
In other news, I royally failed both of my exams today. I really hate that. It wasn't my fault, I swear.
And I got to talk to my Dusty today...I get to see him in a few days before we both head off again...it'll be so nice to spend time with him again.
So, here's to the last night in my dorm...

Sunday, May 05, 2002

Yeah, kyacking was fun. :-) A good last day for school.
Anyways, I gotta little more studying to do tonight, and the packing. Ick. I can't believe it's over.

Saturday, May 04, 2002

So I ended up with a C+ in NT....which is slightly better than the grade I was expecting, but it still would have been nice to have made those few extra points and gotten a B. Ah well.
Anyways, I'm done working for the night, so I'm heading over to hang out with Fluffy in a bit. :-)
Have a good night everybody!
So I think I did pretty well on that exam...I had figured out that if I got an 85 on the exam, I could pull a B in the class...I don't know if I did, but I should be pretty damn close if I didn't. God, that would be so cool if I did.
So now since it's all cold and rainy, I get to study for more exams instead of going kyacking with Fluffy today. We're gonna try to go tomorrow. Eh, that's what I hate about college...I have these 3 months where I'm not gonna be able to see most of my friends, even though this summer I am staying here in B-burg. I want to spend time with Fluffy this week, since he's off to ADF later this month. It's so shocking how fast this year flew by. There are so many people that I'm never gonna see again.

Friday, May 03, 2002

*yawn* I've been studying for this freakin' NT exam all day, and I am so ready to quit. Fortunately I got the study guide filled out, so hopefully I'll do well on this one.
I'm also waiting for Fluffy to get online. I suddenly realized just how little time I have left with most of my friends here in college. I wanna hug. *sigh*

Thursday, May 02, 2002

So I finally got a full dl of "The Obvious". I cannot wait for the 3rd album! I keep checking online to see if anyone has any new demos...there should be some leaks soon.
Other than that, I've been sitting around here tonight due to the weather. I've got my New Testament exam on Saturday, so I started studying for that. I worked on my website, too, even though I didn't make it over to Henderson tonight. My roommate went to Roanoke for the afternoon, and I'm surprised she and James aren't back yet. There's not much more to do there than there is here.
:=)
Gotta love Virginia weather. The whole tornado thing is getting old.
Anyways, I'm heading over to Henderson in a bit to work on my portfolio; me and Cathy are gonna keep each other company while we edit our pages. I definately haven't really updated my portfolio since "Dracula". I'm in the process of uploading images before I go over there, so I better work on that some more.
So yeah, just got back from the party...it was great...good times, good times. Got to talk to Jesse for awhile...hadn't seen him much since Christmas. It started to rain, so we went home, and now I'm waiting for Fluffy to come get me. :=)
And Dana, I really am here for you. Just let me know what I can do. I'm sorry about what's happening, and I'm praying.

Wednesday, May 01, 2002

So yeah, apparently there's a new Orgy song out, and I can't seem to get a full download of it. I'm using WinMX, so if anyone else has another file sharing program and would be willing to dl and email it to me, I'd love you forever. The song is called "The Obvious".
Anyways, I'm heading out to Pixi's party. If any of you wanna come over, it's 400 Houston Street. $4.
And now on to today's stuff. Teen Daily Devotional Ministries published one of my devotionals today. You can go to tddm.org and check it out. (If you go through the archives, it's called "So Blind") I wrote it awhile back, based somewhat on the testimony that I gave at the BSU last December when Johnnie came to visit. Since TDDM's been more apt to publish my stuff lately, I've been inspired more and more to write down stuff that I'm learning along the way.
Anyways, I'm heading over to Pixi's tonight for a huge block party, seeing that today is the end of classes. I have an exam Saturday, then two on Monday...and home I go on Tuesday. I'll then be heading back up here around the 15th to start work. I'm the lighting technician for the Summer Arts Festival here at VT, so I'll be around here most of the summer for that. Fun stuff.
Ok, this thing appears to be working now! Yay! Anyways, welcome to my new blog. I wanted to get a livejournal, but no one seems to have any codes left, so this is the next best thing. So I hope you enjoy keeping up with my life, even when I can't keep up with myself.
