Been a good day! Went down to Richlands today to see Lance. It was really cool. Good drive - listened to those Circle of Dust cds on the way down, and they're just awesome. I've got "Refractor" stuck in my head.

Since Lance had a lot of work to do we just hung out at the office for a bit and chilled. We talked about all sorts of random shit, and it was really cool just to hang out for awhile. Even though he was tired he looked really well, and that made me happy. We snagged some food from Taco Bell just like the old days, lol, and swapped music. Good times.

Tomorrow Champe is having all of the old high school posse over to his place, so that should be awesome. I need to see who else wants to go, heh. It'll be good to see all of my old friends again; we hung out awhile back and it was cool. I definately miss all of them sometimes.

Friday I'm heading back up to NoVA to see my boy! We're gonna spend New Years together, possibly with Corrie and some other people. The 2nd is our 6 month anniversary, yay! I love my Jacob! He and the guys in the band have been tossing around ideas for doing a mini-tour over Spring Break. I think that'd rock. So we'll see what happens. After New Years we'll be coming back home, which makes me happy - it'll be nice to have him near me again. *snuggles*

Just going along, as usual. Got a LOT done on OD's site. Finished up the 'final' interface, then started some testing and it just went downhill from there. So I killed it and started over, and came up with something I really love and pretty new for me. I've got most of it up for testing - feel free to check it out and let me know what you think and if you have any problems with it. I'm especially looking for feedback from Mac and Unix users. See it here.

I got the second Circle Of Dust cd that I ordered in the mail today. Very excited to find them. It's Celldweller's old band for those of you who don't know. I listened to part of the other album I got the other day already, and it was really good. I love getting new (to me) music.

Trillian released v3.0 (Basic & Pro) today! There had been some negative feedback on it, but I bit in and installed it anyways, and haven't had any problems. (I did have my computer crash afterwards, but I think that was a problem with a website and not Trillian.) All the features work, it seemlessly imported all of my settings and information from the earlier version (logins, buddy lists, sorting, away messages, history logs, etc.), and there are some nice new touch-ups to it. So go get it.

Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me...yeah, anyways, so you wanna know what I bought for myself? Lol. Here we go...

Circle of Dust - "Circle of Dust", Circle of Dust - "Disengage", a Vanity Beach t-shirt, an Orgy t-shirt, and renewed my webspace for LH.com, along with the few things I bought while in NoVA. I also bought Jacob some things, but I can't say what yet. I got a few things from my parents, including a curling iron (yeah, uh...), some stuff from Bath & Body Works, a cd visor thing (that I already had, but hey, I guess this one can go on the passenger side) and some socks. Hehe.

On top of that, I got FluffyStarr.net set up and that's where the new forum is! That was the big surprise I mentioned earlier. You all should go there and hang out now.

I've been working on OD's site for two days, and the more I do, the more I dislike this design. *sigh* Back to work I go...

Back from midnight mass...at 10...yeah...

Basically the yearly "why I'm not a Catholic anymore" ritual - subject myself to an hour or so of litany and screaming babies whose moms don't have the decency to put in the nursery. And it's really hard to keep a straight face when you have lines from things such as Dogma and Family Guy running through your head...You don't celebrate your faith, you mourne it....This is really the blood of Christ? That dude must've been wasted 24 hours a day....

Speaking of the blood of Christ...about transubstantiation. What if it doesn't work? Does the priest just start over? I mean seriously, have you ever seen one try again? Or is it expected that by the time their a full-fledged priest they're in such devine communication with God that they won't mess up?

I don't believe in substantiation, I don't believe in purgatory, and I don't believe in the Immaculate Conception. I do believe in the 10 commandments however, including the one that says not to worship idols. As I stood there and watched the priest bless the Bible with incense while we all stood to hear it read, I'm reminded how the Christian religion today has made the Bible an idol in itself. The Church is so lost.

If I thought that going to Liberty for grad school would actually make a difference, I think I would.
Been having a good time off; lots of webstuff as always...RAM, Otto's Daughter - and something else. A big surprise. I should be able to post about it tomorrow night, teehee!

Guess what I got in the mail yesterday? My big brother is the best ever - he ordered me a handmade wand with my name carved in the handle. Yes, a wand - like Harry Potter, lol. It's very cool, and I think my parents appreciate something other than the usual addition to my weapon collection, lmao.

On my way out the door for midnight mass. It's always kinda wierd going back to the Catholic church every year. Ah well. This year's a little sad because I'm expecting to run into two friends from high school whose mother died of cancer last month. :-( It's hard in this life sometimes I guess.

Anyways, Merry Christmas everyone!

After sleeping in and being unbarably cute, me and Jacob ate some lunch, and I headed on home. Traffic wasn't too bad I guess, lol.

Been working on music stuff ever since. Trying to get the final demo site up for Otto's Daughter, plus working out a job description of sorts for a new project I'm working on soon. AND working on something else fun. Wheee...so much cool stuff, such little ability to talk about it.

Fluffy just updated her blog, and they got drums tracked to FIVE songs today. How awesome is that? Yay.

Yay! What a great week! After work on Saturday I picked up Jacob and we came up to NoVA. (We didn't want to wait until Sunday since it was supposed to snow) It did snow (and ice...and rain...) just a bit on Sunday, but not until after we left visiting his grandma; plus the snow was all about us being cute and watching Love Actually, yay! Very cute, just as planned. The entire trip has been great - we've done a lot of visiting of the family, lots of good eating, and lots and lots more of cuting! I know for the most part I'm pretty independent, but there's something awesome about cuddling Jacob being the first thing I do when I wake up and the last thing I do before I go to sleep. :-) I like living with him. *snuggles* I got to meet his grandparents on the other side of the family the other day, and I really liked them. I like his other grandma, too, but this side reminds me a bit more of my family. It was fun! Also, one of his cats has gotten used to me and has been curling up with me in the evenings on the couch - yay for kitties! It's just been really great!

Today was awesome. We woke up late, then went Christmas shopping. I found presents for my parents right off, then spent a bit of the money my parents gave me and got me some things that I wanted - a visor cd case for my car, plus a few cool things from The Body Shop. I think I found this oil moisturizer thing that's helping with my metal allergy. Hey, whatever works. While we were there Corrie called, so we headed out her way tonight and met her at this kickass pub in town and just chilled. Eventually her bro and some of his Marine friends showed up, so it was just a little party. It was great seeing her again and just chilling out. I love my friends.

Still, like a good business owner, I've been checking my email and have a few more things going for RAM and some of it's related artists. Nothing that I can post about, but it's BIG. Expect to be rockin' out hardcore soon. Also, when we were at the mall today, Hot Topic of all places had Orgy's Vague single! Rockin'.

Ok, back to being cute...today's song of the day is inspired by the Depeche Mode cd we've been listening to today. :-D

I had a really funny "oh shit" moment last night after work. I had gotten into the parking garage and was walking towards my car, when I noticed that things seemed out of place. "I don't have a bumper sticker there..." As I looked, the entire backside of the car had been covered with all of these Republican, Support The War, God Loves You stickers. I thought, "Oh my god, someone has ripped all of my Libertarian and goth/industrial music stickers and put these on here." Fortunately, as I reached my hand out to rip off the big yellow Troops ribbon, I realized that my car was parked in the next row. Haha. But seriously, does anyone else ever have a fear of having your car vandalized like that? For having political or somewhat subversive bumper stickers? (And don't get me wrong - I don't have a problem with whoever did have the Republican, Support The War, God Loves You, etc. stickers on his CRV...everyone's entitled to their opinion in this country, and I support that.) But I do sometimes wonder if one day I'm gonna come out and find my car with spray paint over the "Vote Libertarian!" sticker or a note on my windshield about how I'm going to hell and am being prayed for. Ah well.

So after work today I have to go home and pack quickly, then drive down and pick up my boy. Yay! My parents gave me some Christmas money since I couldn't really think of anything I wanted them to give me, so I'm gonna go shopping while I'm up there this week. Should be an experience, heh. When it snows on Sunday me and Jacob are going to curl up with his big fluffy cats and watch Love Actually and be really cute!

Last night I spent some time working on the promo packs for Tripleside. Wrote a bio, started talking about some plans on taking some band photos. I worked on the myspace profile, too; you can head over there to hear three of the songs from [demos2004] PLUS the first official studio recording, "Blessed." I've also got the beginnings of the new bio up, too. Fun times.

In the meantime me and Lance talked for awhile about random shit, which was cool. He's working on a site for someone very cool, but I probably can't say anymore than that, or I'll get yelled at. Or have a weiner dog sic'd on me, hehe. It's good just to talk about whatever the way we used to. :-)

Anyways, back to work...

Quiet day so far. Just waiting to set a few podium mics this afternoon.

Yesterday was stressful, but good. The, er, thing I mentioned at 11am went well I think. I should know next week, I hope. Then I went for my last dentist visit. This one was probably the worst, just where all the fillings had to go. Meh. After that I headed over to rehearsal for the play me and Rafe are working on in January. I've got a lot of ideas for lighting to start playing around with.

Afterwards I headed down to Blacksburg to see Jacob for a bit. We didn't really do anything but lay around for a few hours, but it was good to spend some time with him after working so much this week. Looks like I'll be taking him back to NoVA tomorrow after work and spending a few days with him there. It's supposed to snow on Sunday, too - how cute! I'll probably do my Christmas shopping up there, too. (No, I haven't even started yet - ha. Yeah.)

So Fluffy and the boys have started their studio time! They went in the other day, and you can go to the site for updates on the progress. I can't wait to hear this album.

Lance just made a really encouraging blog entry about the progress he's making dealing with his knee injury from a few years ago. I hope things go well on Saturday!

Well, back to work I go...

I got zapped by my earpiece again today. *sigh*

In other news, here's a photo of the new 'do. I apologize for the swollen cheek and listless eye, but hey, that's the dentist for ya.

And we all know what I sucker I am for old-fashioned love stories. No, it doesn't have Alan Rickman in it, but I about died when I finally saw the trailer: The Phantom of the Opera. I love that story, and this movie looks visually stunning.

I'm really getting into film lately. Jacob did a music video for Tripleside for his final project in Film Prod, and it was great! He's talking about doing a whole live show DVD next sememster for an independent study, and I think that's really exciting. Back in the day, me and Corrie had talked about making music videos together. I think I want to pursue that. I think we should hook up with 51 Peg or someone and do a video sometime soon. I wish we had actually gotten Thorn to come up last year and do something for LOV. I still have my renderings for that thing... Plus, I imagine Heather as being the perfect model for just about every idea I come up with, so it's really just a win-win situation for everyone, right? :-) So many ideas, so little time and money. Bah.

So, for those of you who know what I'm talking about, the day that things start to change is tomorrow at 11. Wish me luck.

The Last Laugh - "Heh"

So I just worked like an extra six hours of overtime today, lmao. Went in at 10, was supposed to leave at 6...left a little after midnight. But I'm not complaining really. I like working the night shifts and being on own for the most part, so it was fine. Basically, well, the thing is - and this happens a lot - many people that have conferences at the hotel assume that they can just show up the night before and set up their equipment. I think the basic assumption is that it's actually good to do that, and I can understand that logic, but the fact of the matter is, we have to be notified ahead of time. For one, any given room for tomorrow morning could be in use by another group tonight. Secondly, our schedules are based on the amount of work ordered on any given day. So if you show up one night, we might not even be there, or there might just be one person closing things down for the night. Since I work the night shifts (which is awesome to finally be back on schedule doing that again - thank you, dear manager) this happens to me a lot. And that's basically what happened tonight. Also a lot of "Hey, we want this set up completely different than what you have it as." and "Also, we brought 4 or 5 other random pieces of equipment that you must somehow interface with yours." *sigh* Never a dull moment. I just don't wanna be around when that group gets their bill for the night, heh.

So, now for the big news:

I cut my hair.

Yep, it's all gone. Cut 14 inches off. I basically decided that at this point in my life and with the type of career I have, it was time to go. I got it cut to my shoulders, with a bit of layering. I pretty much printed out a picture of Fluffy's hair from a few years ago and took that in, lmao! But yeah, I'll post pictures soon. I took a few yesterday but I had also been to the dentist so my face was all swolen.

Oh, this is funny: I got electrocuted by my hotel radio/phone earpiece. I'm serious! I was having a conversation, and when it ended, Zap! BuZZZZZZZ! I threw the earpiece across the room. This was more than the "static electricity" - more like sticking your finger in an electrical socket. Except...it's your ear. How cheap. So I now have some gaff tape covering all the metal parts of it. Ghetto-theatrical. :-D

Speaking of life sucking...Lance, what's up? *is worried* :-/

So a few more hours to go, then back to the dentist tomorrow for part III of V.

Drama...my (former) major and my life. Been an interesting last couple of days. Had a pretty frustrating day at work Friday. All in all I really do like my job and love my coworkers, but I'm really not getting enough financial or moral compensation for the amount of effort I put in.

Oh. And why is it that all the creepy guys at that place assume because I'm a young woman that I must want them? I got hit on waaaaaaaaaay too many times tonight, to the point I had to tell one of them off. I should not have to come to work and worry about some greasy dude old enough to be my dad making veiled references about me coming over later. I remember my mom telling me when she was my age and working she used to wear a wedding ring so that the guys at her workplace would leave her alone. I thought about doing that, then realized, no way in hell. I should not have to do that. If anyone gives me anymore shit, he's going down. I'm tired of it. I'm also tired of everyone assuming that because I'm a girl I need help putting up a cradle screen. If I need help I'll ask.

Whew, ok. But the day was not lost; last night Jacob had a show, and it was wonderful! There were a lot of people there. The band played a great show and I got some pretty good pics finally. I refocused their lights a bit; it looks good, but I think I may try a different color blue next time. Jeff says they'll be getting a bigger rig later, so maybe I can help with that. That'd be really cool. So yeah, great show - me and Jacob have talked a bit about putting together promo packs to send out to some other venues in the area. I think it'd rock to travel around a bit. So that's fun. And I'll feel like a real manager, lol!

Got an email from Lisa today - my "boss" with the painting business. It looks like she's back from Utah for a bit, so maybe I'll get a few jobs soon. I told her I was looking for some overhire work now. It's always really fun to work with her, especially since she's always been a source of support for me as a strong woman, especially when I was in high school. You know, I've been half-way tempted here of late to start a website featuring successful women in the technical/support site of the entertainment industry. I know so many that have been really inspiring. I hope that when I start working as a Girl Scout leader that I'll at least be able to show others what can be accomplished.

Ugh. I'm so frustrated with everything in my life. But you can just call me...Cab Sav. ;-)

I'm so ready for a new job. Once that happens, I'm going to kick off my side projects in more of a full force. I hope by August I'll have enough money to follow in Thorn's footsteps and find a place in LA and get this party started. All I need is a cheap apartment, a lot of overhire gigs at the nearby theatres (which, btw, there are a lot of listed on backstagejobs.com.) and all my bands to utilize my talents!

*sigh* But seriously though - as soon as I have some fucking time I'm gonna set up RAM as an LLC and get my importation liscense. Then RAM is gonna start selling albums and merch. I can do this. I just need some time.

Oh! I spent some of my birthday money and got some older cds - Disown, Celldweller, and The Anix - all of which rock! I needed a new copy of Celldwellers, and The Anix's was about to sell out (you know that album is gonna be like Nothing and Nowhere...glad I got a copy) and I had to get Disown's first album after hearing their latest. So yeah, good stuff! Still planning on buying some more music and merch too...yay!

Anyways, I gotta be in at 6:30 tomorrow morning, so I'm going to bed.

Today has been pretty good. Not a whole lot of work to be done...got one room to refresh, one to set, two to strike later, and then just sitting around to 9:30 or 10 in case the press shows up for another room. So a pretty chill evening. But there are so many people here I can't even walk around; I'd be working on rooms now but with the groups in the two ballrooms it's just impossible. So once those functions start I'll be fine, lol. Providing I don't get any calls, heh.

Talked to Dana for a bit last night. His dad got an awesome job doing his chef thing at the Civic Center for the performance acts that come through. Hope that works out for him.

Meh. Tomorrow is day two of getting my teeth drilled. True, it didn't hurt too much last time, but this is definately not fun. I'd rather be at Tech cuting with my boy. Which I may do later that day anyways, lol. :-)

I'm hungry. I'm going to eat now! Lol.

So taking a lunch break here before I have to go set my last rooms of the day. Yesterday was good; me and Jeremy got things rolling at the theatre around 8, and at 10 the show loaded-in. By 3 we were done. Very awesome. The show itself went really well - these guys were so good! The even gave me and Jeremy signed CD's thanking us. It was so nice being back in the theatre again. Even though I worked a full 16 hours, I felt like it really was my day off. What a great job.

Since I wasn't able to get down to Tech last night I attempted to hang out with John, but without luck. He keeps running into me at work saying we should hang out some more. I'm such a bad friend sometimes. Work gets so all-consuming that I inadvertantly just fade out of touch. *sigh*

I'm listening to Disown's new cd again. I'm falling in love with Jae through his voice, lol. I remember the first time I saw Dead Or Alive's music video for "You Spin Me Right Round" and being mesmerized by their vocals; it's the same thing with this album. Hauntingly sexy and captivatingly innocent. Yum.

I'm getting kind of frustrated with a reoccuring incident. I guess the bare insides is that someone I'm close to is shutting me out for fear of insulting someone they secretly don't like. All because he can be honest with me, but can't bring himself to show his dislike to someone else. It's like I'm being punished for being approachable (and the fact that I'd be willing to say what he's too afraid to). I have a lot of friends, all of whom I love, but only a few that I really respect. I can't stand to see people so weak and so willing to just let themselves be pushed around.

*sigh* Back to work I go...

I have to say that in these last few months I've had so much reassurance for the cause I support: good bands. I got Disown's cd in the mail today, and it's brilliant. All of the songs I loved are even better, and all the new ones are just as wonderful. Everything about the album - the music, the coordination, the imagery, the packaging...just so well done. I guess I would like to take this time to thank the bands that have been producing such awesome music this year, especially 51 Peg, The Birthday Massacre, Dead Inside The Chrysalis, Disown, and Ever. Some of the best CDs I've ever found.

Contrary to how my last post left off, I had a great birthday! Work wasn't too bad - I got a couple good leftover desserts, and John even ran interference for me twice when he saw me get verbally trapped by the creepy guy - afterwards I headed down to B-burg. On the way Heather calls to let me know she's coming, so after meeting Mike and Jacob we pick her up and head over to the Cellar. Much fun was had by all. Drew came in later, and throughout the course of the evening I ran into countless theatre friends. Corrie also called me up and sang to me, lol. Overall a very chill evening, just as I like it. They make good black and tans there, by the way.

Jacob bought me a huge body sqooooooooooooooosh pillow. It's wonderful. *snuggles*

So I have a busy week ahead of me, filled of work both at the hotel and the theatre. I'm really tired. I'll be glad when work drops off...
