So last night was super cute! After work and a delicious meal at Sakura (Japanese place here in town that's just as good as Kabuki, but without the show and therefore cheaper) I headed down to Tech. Traffic in the opposite direction was terrible, even several hours after the end of the game. It was backed up so bad on the interstate that traffic was even stopped as far back as before the exit to Christiansburg on the 460 bypass. Insane. But anyways, me and Jacob just kinda chilled out - we played Sims 2 for awhile. Our family is so cute! "Laura" got a job as an army recruit. It's pretty funny. We still have random techno raves in our living room. "Jacob" eats a lot of cereal. :-D

We also started talking about what we wanted our families to get us for Christmas, so we busted out the crayons and did our lists the old-fashioned way, mispellings and all. It was very cute. I finally thought of a few things that I wanted. I need to get Photoshop already; Paint Shop Pro has been fine, but I need to go that extra step. I think *gasp* I'm gonna ask for Flash, too. As much as I'm anti-Flash in webdesign, I've seen a lot of good sites done lately where it's been used just slightly - so it's not too big and complicated to mess with people on slower connections, but just gives the site the extra spice. For instance, look at the way the sound is done on Julien-K's and In Winter's site. And I really like what Simon did for the menu on Violet Prison. So, yeah...I think if I really want to do any kind of serious webdesign work in the future, it's time to upgrade.

Speaking of upgrades, I'm gonna be asking for some stuff for my old computer too to help with the expansion of RAM. I'm going to use it as a fileshare tool - maybe do something with the "getfile" feature on AIM - to let people download more (free and legal, mind you) mp3's. We'll see...

Saturday, November 27, 2004

So I've applied to have Google AdSense on RAM - we'll see how that works out. It's a pretty nifty idea of a program.

Not much going on. Work has been steady, but not really busy. Biggest thing was a really badly communicated last minute add of our huge TV for a room that kicked-off right when I got here, but it turned out alright. Good thing that monster has wheels.

Anyways, I'm probably gonna be out of here around 5:30ish - may meet my parents for dinner somewhere, then head down to Tech to be cute with my boy. :-) I'm bringing down my DVD of Love Actually, since he hasn't seen it yet. *sigh* What a great movie.

Everybody, now! "I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toeeeeeeees..."

So I don't know if I'm actually sick or just tired from everything I've been doing these past few months, but I don't feel good. I go back to work tomorrow for a few days, but hopefully it won't be too bad. We do have one huge (but hopefully the last of the year) group coming in Tuesday - Thursday. Yeah, that's right - as usual, I have a huge show on my birthday. BUT, I have Wednesday night off, so the plan is to do the usual that night at the Cellar in Blacksburg. Everyone is invited.

So me and Corrie might be getting ink done. :-) I've been online looking at designs and stuff. I'm thinking about some kind of tribal design between my shoulder blades - a little lower, in a kind of accenting position. Or maybe a gothic-type cross. We'll see. Or maybe I'll just go with something less drastic and get a few more piercings. But it's fun to think about.

I am going to redye my hair though. Going a little more drastic though with an actual purple. I think I'm gonna wait until after this last group at the Hotel goes through, so that they don't pitch a fit or anything. We'll see...

Finally got a chance to plug in the Ever cd yesterday, and it's really good. I recommend them, so go buy it!

So I had a great week so far! I drove up to Fairfax on Monday, and me and Jacob and his mom went out to Tara Thai for dinner - still haven't found 'my' dish yet, but it was better than the thai restaurant in Blacksburg. Afterwards we made an icecream run and ate that while watching RAW, lol. One of these days, Lita's gonna win that thing.

After being rediculously cute and sleeping in late, we woke up Tuesday, went out and bought the new Harry Potter DVD, then went to his grandma's and watched it and ordered pizza. That night we met up with his dad and stepmom and went out to Sweetwater Tavern - a really nice restaurant / microbrewery. Wow, that beer was good. Got one called Helles Out Of Dodge. Definately gets a place on my favorite beer list. Wish I could get that stuff down here! If anyone wants to buy me a keg of that for my birthday, please do.

Then today we were cute some more, and ate lunch at a pretty decent Indian place. Yum! Then I headed home - 66 West was terrible. I went something like 17 miles in over an hour. But once I made it to 81, things were ok.

What else? Well, I'm in the process of getting my Girl Scout membership reinstated. That should be fun. Looks like I'll be doing some program assistance - camping, cookie sales, etc. Nothing steady, but still fun things to do.

I also might be working with a new record label. I'm talking to Manek from Dead Inside The Chrysalis about his upcoming Electricult Records that I mentioned here earlier about perhaps heading up the Street Team. So we'll see where that goes! I'm really excited about what he's got planned; DITC's album is phenomenal, and some of the artists he's got on board for distro and the compilation album are great. So either way, you'll be hearing more, either through a direct connection or just through RAM support!

I've got a cool new project coming up for RAM - I'm going to be putting "goodie bags" together for us to hand out at shows - they'll have specific RAM merch like pins, stickers, and sampler cds, plus whatever artists decide to send me to add in.

I got my Ever cds in the mail, too! Haven't listened to my copy yet, but I just realized that they're a Christian band. That's awesome to find a cool band in the genre like that.

I'm currently missing Disown's CD release party (with In Winter), so today's song of the day is dedicated to them!

So I decided the other night that I need to do something fun outside of work that DOESN'T involve the music industry, lol, and that is a community service, so I'm going to get back involved with Girl Scouting.

Don't know what I'm gonna do yet; I just emailed the service unit manager to see what might be needed, but let me tell you - I can already smell the campfire. I wanna go back to Sacajawea this summer.
So it's another one of those days where it's supposed to be quiet but isn't. Thank god I don't work again until Friday. 3 and half hours to go.

Then tomorrow I'm driving to NoVA to be with my boy! Yay!

Checked DITC's website today and they have a radio recording of "Release You Freak" available for DL'ing, so go check that out! Yay for Fluffy!

So last night in my surfing adventures I stumbled upon this. I'm still waiting to get some confirmation from the artists involved, but wow...this is going to rock:

Posted by Manek on DITC's forum -

"Electricult Records: Mutant Music for the Mutant Generation!

Its official, Electricult Records will be releasing a whole string of albums in 2005 and beyond... both overseas and local artists... The Humanoid Expansion Pack was just the beginning... we'll be releasing Australia only versions of Porn's new album with bonus tracks and remixs, as well as Vanity Beach and an Electricult Compilation early next year... that's all I, Manek Deboto can confirm for now but we are talking to many more artists about releasing their albums thru Electricult... some you may already know, others you will want to know...

The artists and bands that will be released thru Electricult you can be rest assured will be cutting edge music, stuff in the vein of DITC, stuff that is different to DITC and various other solo stuff and collaborations that the band is involved with... styles that go from dread-wave to cyber-glam to shock pop to electro-punk to deep-fried total freak-out weirdness... a myriad of genre-bending mutated styles... music for mutants like us who are part of this motley mutant generation.

So I hope you check out some of these releases in the future so we can mutate pop culture from within and show 'em that freaks like us have a place in this world.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Electricult Records 2005 releases:

+ Porn: Glitter, Danger and Toyboyz... featuring previously unreleased tracks- Baby Smack, Call Me (Blondie cover) and a remix by none other than myself and Craig Sue/ Diablo.

+ Vanity Beach: Nights of the New

+ The Mutant Generation: An Electricult Compilation... featuring never-before released new tracks by Dead Inside the Chrysalis, Lamar Lowder/ Jerk, Cherry2000, Harlequin, Benedict, Craig Sue, Vanity Beach, Porn, Action Figures and tracks by Lunarclick, The Birthday Massacre, Fluffy Starr, SexyDeath, Club Decease, Rurik, The Anix, and many more to be announced...

The dread-wave is coming my friends... prepare yourself!

...Electricult Records web-site coming soon..."

So I emailed him saying him I thought this was a fabulous idea and that I'd love to help out, so we'll see what happens. Half of those artists are RAM artists. Allllriiight.

Anyways, I'm sitting here at work eating Swedish Fish. Not much is happening - everything from today is pretty much done - I have one room to strike in a few minutes minus the podium mic for an event tonight, then another room to set by 7. I then just stick around until that room is done with their projection presentation, and take down the screen. So I'm here for 9 hours doing hardly anything. I'm not complaining. The only bad thing is that my cramps are so bad my entire back is locked up. *sigh* At least this chair is fluffy...

I miss my boy, too.

Friday, November 19, 2004

Long day. People suck. I mean, they really do. Never have I had to deal with so many trivial complaints. "Oh my god, one of the recessed lights in this GIGANTIC ballroom is burned out. PANIC!!!" Christ.

But my boss was cool and let me leave a bit early, so that was nice. Better hours tomorrow, and then just a short morning shift Sunday and that's it. And then Monday I'll be going to see B once last time for this show I'm doing; he and his wife just got "the call" - they're going overseas to adopt their daughter, so that's awesome. Then afterwards...I'm going to NoVA to be cute with my boy! Hopefully, that is, lol. His mom seems to not mind me coming to visit for a few days, so I just need to make sure my parents don't throw a fit, hehe. Because I can't be without my boy for too long. :-)

So I got home and Lani had finished reseting the domain nameservers so her site is up! Check it out: www.lanimusic.com. And drop a note by the forum while you're there.

Speaking of forums, I did more major updates to RAM's when I was at work - lots of member exclusives. We're gonna get the promo party started. I've had interest in the street team and my staff is rearing to go, so we'll see how it goes! I checked my stats just now and I've had over 300 people to the site just this month so far. Very cool.

Anyways, back to work I go...

I'm alternately drinking lemon-lime-strawberry gatorade, eating original swedish fish, and drinking coffee. Hehehe.

Today wasn't so bad. I guess it's just the comfort of knowing after Sunday this dies out. (At least until my birthday.)

Speaking of my birthday, I realized today that it's not so much people forgetting it as much as them remembering and just not caring to do anything.

Going home soon...

So I got DITC's new album in the mail yesterday, and oh my god it is fucking bad ass! Now, I've always thought DITC was pretty good, though not my absolute favorite, but damn...this album is just phenomenal. The songs are this wicked blend of Celldweller and Redrum. Very cool.

I've also had a lot of success lately with RAM. Did a big LJ promo spree and got a few new artists so far out of it, and more people on the forum. All of these new artists are slick - there's Ever, a tasty blend of Evanescence and The Birthday Massacre, though a bit softer and more etherial. Then there's Form 30, who's a bit like Club Decease mixed with Depeche Mode, with extremely haunting vocals. Then In Winter, probably a new favorite of mine, again very similiar to Ever and The Birthday Massacre. And finally The S1nd1cate - a rap vs. Celldweller vs. metal band. Very cool club sound.

So I sat down and talked with Rafe for awhile this afternoon about a lot of stuff, one of which being "the drop off" which is happening....Sunday! After Sunday, I don't work hardly at all for the rest of the year. Yay! True, I need to find some work elsewhere, but that also means I'm gonna have some time to chill and hang out with my friends. Maybe now I'll finally have time to hang out with John and some of my other coworkers more, plus, soon, my friends will be coming home from college, so that'll rock. And of course, there's my Jacob. :-) I'm also gonna try to go see Lance some before he moves out to LA (I'm serious about the house thing with J & P dude, lmao. Hook me up.).

Speaking of Lance, hey Corrie - how was your visit to Atlanta? I bet Thorn is a trip to hang out with.

So, yeah. I pm'd Lou the other day, because he's thinking about starting up the D1 chats again, so I volunteered to mod or to type for the artist if I'm not busy those nights. So that'd be awesome if it happens. :-)

Today marked the beginning of an era I was dreading the return of:

Having to wake up even earlier to scrape the damn ice of my car.

*sigh* Fortunately I wasn't late this morning, but damn...I wish we had a three car garage. Anyways, today should be quiet. Not a lot of A/V needs, and the contact for this group says no more paper work - I'm wondering if they saw the bill from yesterday, heh. Almost $600, and that's after a few 50% discounts on a lot of their work. Yeesh.

So this morning I've been doing some work that Rafe asked me to do for tomorrow; carting up stuff, moving things around. We seem to be missing one of our TV's, so I'm currently trying to track that down. Just because that seems easier then having to pull another one from the basement. It's bad enough to have to extra TV's down there, but for some reason we also keep the dead moniters on the bottom of those carts, so those things are twice as heavy to move. It's usually not an issue, being that I've only moved them like two or three times since I've been here, but I'm going to suggest that we put those dead tvs somewhere else after this, lol. It's almost as bad as moving moniters for a computer lab.

I also get to play with one of our theatrical lights for the first time ever at this job, lmao. Even if it is just putting a Source 4 on a floor mount. Hehehe...ah, well...

So after this I'm going to head down to Tech to see Jacob. Apparently there's a PPV on tonight, so we're gonna watch that, lol. And tomorrow is my day off, so I'm heading over to VWCC to meet with B about the show I'm doing on December 4th. This guy is very particular about his lighting, but I like it that way. He sent like, two pages of specific instructions, which is awesome. So I'll be able to preprogram everything. We'll have to move some equipment around on stage since the set is being built already for the January show, but Jeremy and Chris are going to help with that. So I just need to get a plot to them by the end of the week. I really love these overhire jobs. I wish I could get enough of them in lighting, painting, and webdesign/promotion to live on, lol. You would think with all of the things I do I'd have more. Oh well.

So I have some good music coming to me in the mail soon that I'm gonna talk about, but I'm gonna go do it in Delectable News, since that's what that blog is there for, lol.

I meant to mention earlier that I had updated "The Side" - blog links updated, renamed, removed, and added. So have fun with those. I also did some major uploads to RAM tonight. Added a lot of songs to the artist pages, so check those out. I'm almost out of space again. Looks like Lee is gonna be getting more of my money, lmao.

I forgot to mention the other night that I went with Jacob to his film class and watched Chinatown. Great movie. Kinda gory at times, but not overly so I didn't think. I'm kind of getting into a "movie" mood again. I was watching CNN at work today and they were talking about the "special relationship" between the US and Britain. Ok, any Alan Rickman die hard fan knows where this is going. Yep...they threw in clips from Love Actually where Hugh Grant (playing the Prime Minister) disses Billy Bob Thorton (our president, a humorous mesh of W. and Clinton). I remember watching that movie, the what, 8 times me and Jeremiah went to see it at the theatre? and thinking, wow, what a great movie to see with a cute boyfriend. So you know what me and Jacob are gonna be doing this Christmas, lol! "I feel it in my fingers...I feel it in my toooooooooooeeeeeeees...."

I also need to start keeping some paper by my bedside again. I used to use it to write down dreams during the middle of the night, but now it's more of a random song lyric mechanism as I'm going to sleep. I thought of something a few nights ago I have yet to put down, but it was something like this...

A done day, delivering
the dreaded dawn approaches
and I close my eyes and hold on

If you weren't so far away I'd be with you now
embryotic and evanescent
changing the days from the dreary

I could imagine you walking through the front door
I yearn for the casualness of intimacy
The comforting absence of solitude

I could see your belongings lingering through mine
Falling asleep in your - no, mine - no...
Our.

Meh. It'll get better. Hehe. Anyways, I'm gonna call my boy and cute at him before I go to bed. :-) Someone find me a better job!
*sigh* I hate my job.

Not much else going on, really. Getting ready for another overhire night the beginning of December, so that'll be an extra paycheck. I've also heard that JCS is playing in B-burg on the 3rd, so I'm gonna try to hit that and drag John along with me, heh.

I'm hungry. I'm also staying here an extra 3 hours, but that's ok. I need more money.

A lot has happened since last time, though there's not really much to say. I'm still bummed out about my teeth and my life in general, but something has happened - being put into motion this very week - that has given me hope of getting out of this mess. I'll say more later when I'm able to.

Jacob had a last minute show last night that I wish I could have gone to. Anyone who knows me well knows that I've got a thing for men with sexy voices, lol. It would have made me feel better to listen to him for awhile. *sigh*

I've been pretty sick these last few days and I don't know why. I at first thought that since I had to cut out soda that I was low in sugar, but now I don't think so. These last few days I've had a bit of left over Halloween candy at work, and I'm still having problems. I don't really feel bad I guess...there's an occasional headache, but most of the time I'm feeling extremely weak, and if I'm on my feet too long I start getting to the point where I feel I'll pass out. And I'm shaking almost constantly. This has been happening for three days now. Maybe I'm just stressed.

I talk to Adam (does promo graphics for Fluffy and RAM) for awhile last night. We've got a kick ass project in the works, but it's a secret for now. :-D But I'm very excited about it!

Also, how cool is this? The Birthday Massacre just opened up the new Violet Prison, and if you go to the photo gallery, 12 of my photos from the Jaxx are there! So very cool. Makes me feel good to know they liked them that much.

Jeremiah called me yesterday and left a message, but of course I was at work and couldn't call back. Sounds like things are good though - but I miss my big brother! He needs to come back, lol.

I guess that's about all...gonna go do some work on this secret project of ours now...

So I'm back from the dentist. The good news is that the dentist and hygeniest are both very good and very cool, so I made a good choice in a new one. Also, none of the work is THAT bad...

But it's bad enough.

I am no longer allowed to drink anything high fructose EVER.

I will be wearing my bite guard for the rest of my life. Lisp highway, here we come.

It's going to take at least 4 days of work to get it all done.

My dental work will cost me more than my college education did.

I will be living at home for at least another year to pay this one off.

I guess there's no reason to worry about not doing what I want now with my life, because that dream is definately on hold now.

1: Spent most of the day updating RAM. Lot's of new images on the forum.

2: Ordered Disown's new CD, Requiem of One. Only 11 bucks, including shipping, so there's really no excuse not to.

3: Go vote tomorrow. Preferably Libertarian, but I'll be happy if you just go and do you're small part of taking responsibility for our future no matter how you vote.

4: Happy four month anniversary to me and my boy! He's cute!

5: Pray for me that my teeth don't disintegrate at the dentist tomorrow morning.
