As stated on my myspace...now that I've gotten my sleep, my lounge time, and my alcohol, it's time to write.
I would like to say I consider Saturday to be a HUGE FUCKING SUCCESS!!!
Before I go into it, I want to say first of all, that I'm indebted to Joe & Ryan at Strangeland and Scott at Midnight for hosting us. Also, thanks so much to DJ's Liebchen & Pauna for helping to spread the word, and especially to my friends who supported me with the big and little things: to Colleen for wearing the Disown flyer at Freaks United and offering to bring Kyle's PA; to Chris for being so supportive via email; to Corrie offering to dance for RAM donations even though she couldn't make it out, lol; and to everyone else for their well-wishes. Couldn't have done it without you guys.
The day started out a bit rough over at Strangeland when I realized that I had miscommunicated with the band about their sound needs, and thusly am now the proud owner of my own PA. But, hey, if I'm gonna be doing this kind of stuff I should have my own system anyways...and their are a great deal of ads on craigslist for wedding DJ's, lol. But in any case, I got it worked out, and the acoustic set sounded fabulous! I think everyone really enjoyed themselves, and we had a decent number of people in throughout the afternoon. Jae's parents had come down for this leg of the tour, so Mr. Rohrer fired up the grill and cooked for us. So it was a really chill, pleasant afternoon.
But the show at Midnight sealed the deal. We had a tremendous turnout, and the overall audience reaction was extremely positive. Band merch was selling like crazy, and I actually made a chunk of change myself already on RAM vending, too! So a very good first official RAM show...god it's a great feeling!
Finally, I wanted to say that Jae, Scott, Krystal, Laura, and Mr. & Mrs. Rohrer are wonderful people. And that in the end, this is why I do what I do - to meet people like you. I love you guys.
So we press on! No rest for the weary, it seems...I've gotta crank out a flyer for the In Tenebris show tonight for Midnight next week, and then I'm currently in talks about sponsering a big promo event for one of the largest bands on RAM. Things are really flying now...
...and to cap off my night, someone beautiful in California just emailed me. :-)
